1/2/2023 0 Comments Sql 2014 user cal![]() ![]() This is the impression that I am under: I need 1 CAL for each User or Device (depending on the method) that is concurrently using the SQL Server at any given time. ![]() That part is fairly is with the CALs that I get confused. So, I will just buy a license for each VM that will have SQL Server 2014 installed on it. I am aware that to license SQL 2014, my best bet will be to do it on a Server + CALs, as licensing it via the Core method would be, well, more money than I have. Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter gives me unlimited instances of VMs, so I do not need to purchase additional Server 2012R2 licenses, however I am not 100% clear on the licensing for SQL Server 2014, and am reaching out to y'all for some advice. The server is going to be used as a Hyper-V Host, with one of the VM's being for SQL Server 2014.
